Redwoods is an up-and-coming East Coast hardcore and metal outfit. Principally based in New Brunswick, NJ, Redwoods was founded by vocalist Shane Haughton, drummer Colton Schuler, and guitarist Joey Vitale, who found bassist Arjun Chaparala on joinaband.com. Following the quiet release of Demo 2023 and Arjun and Shane's attendance at Rutgers, Redwoods began looking for a new bassist to continue as a five-piece where they picked up Jack Pattarini, a fellow Rutgers student. Joey left the band soon after, moving on to become a member of peer band May They Rest; the departure of a longtime friend and founding member of the band fundamentally changed Redwoods, the uncertainty helping to solidify the core lineup while drastically altering the bands tragectory. After much anticipation from the New Jersey scene, Redwoods released their debut EP, Beneath Me in July 2024.

Redwoods has been praised for their innovative and prescient genre-blending of many East Coast staples, combining the unparalleled groove of New York Hardcore, malicious slam-inspired breakdowns, and the intractible speed of progressive metalcore. Redwoods is a fresh take on heavy music largely due to the principle aesthetic direction of the band and its continuous collaborators. The lyrical and visual content of the band attempts to capture the human experience under pervasive modern technologies, memory in the digital age, and struggling to envision both oneself and the world they occupy in a future without these technologies.
